Robert Bradford.  She was born November 30, 1764 in Kingsington, Massachusetts, and died October 30, 1823 in Newport Twp., Washington Co., Ohio.

 

Notes for Capt. Nathaniel Little:

Nathaniel Little and family arrived in Marietta in 1790 from Massachusetts. They were among the families to settle in Belpre. During the Indian troubles he and his wife and Wealthea and Charles stayed in Farmer's Castle. He later moved to Newport about 1805. He married Pamelis Bradford, daughter of Major Bradford. She died on October 30, 1823 aged 59 years.

Enlisted Aug. 31, 1862, in the 7th Ohio Cav.; and served through the war; was in Sherman's march to the sea; was sent to search for Jefferson Davis, and was one of the guards appointed to conduct Jefferson Davis to Atlanta; never off duty nor in hospital during his three years' service. He was county Treasurer, 1902-06 and during those years res. Marietta, Ohio. Farmer and landowner at Newport.

Death takes F. F. dana of Newport

 

Fredrick F. Dana of Newport former county treasurer and one of the prominent men of Washington County, died this morning at 5:30 o'clock. He had been ill for several years but the immediate cause of his death was pneumonia.

Mr Dana was a son of the late Stephen A. and Jane Little Dana. He was born in Newport of November 30, 1843. His early life was spent in Newport. he enlisted in Company H, 7th O. V. C., at the formation of the regiment until the close of the war.

For a few years after the close of the Civil War he was associated with the late David M. Edgerson, formerly of this county, in the cattle busness in Colorado, when Pueblo was but a trading station. Later he returned to the home farm in Newport, where with his father he remained until electer to the office of county treasurer in 1902, which office he filed for two terms, after, which he returned to the farm. On November 19, 1872, he was united in marriage to Mary E. West, who surrives him, together with three sons, S. A. of Marietta, Dale of Robinson, Ill., and Dwight, of Newport. His only daughter Grace, died in 1904.

In early manhood he united with the First Baptist Church of Newport, and he retained his membership there during his life time.

Funeral services, will be held from the home on Thurdsay, May 23, at 2:30 p. m., with burial in Newport cemetery. The family requests that no flowers be sent.

Mrs. Mary West Dana aged 86, widow of Frederick F. Dana married November 19, 1972, daughter of Rev. J. B.  and Mary A West. She was born in Moundsville, W. Va. April 10, 1848. Mrs. Dana Spent a part of her girlhood in Marietta where she attended school. Her parents moved to Newport where she spent practically the remainder of her life. Mr and Mrs. Dana and their family lived in Marietta from 1902 to 1906, during the years when Mr Dana served as county treasurer. The family lived on Front Street and the daughter of the home, Miss. Grace Dana died there in the spring of 1904. Mr and Mrs Dana returned to their home at Newport, and Mr Dana died there in 1924. They were members of the Methodist Church. Three sons survive. S.A. Dana, E. D. Dana, Dwight  Dana.
