BROWN:
Massachusetts
natives, John Brown with his half brother, Captain Benjamin Brown, and their
families came to Northwest Territory landing in Marietta in 1797. Shortly
thereafter John settled on Cat's Creek, Adams Township, Washington Co., where
he died in 1821. John, born Leicester. MA, December, 1733 (son of Capt. John
Brown and Lydia Newhall) married in Jan 1757 to Rebecca Baldwin, married second
in Adams [Twp], OH in 1802 to Mrs.Elizabeth (Devol) Jennings. Both wives buried
with John at Dodge Cememtery near Equity Station, Adams, OH. John was disabled
at Bunker Hill.
