Danny W. Thompson of Newport was inducted
recently into the Ohio Oil and Gas Association Hall of Fame.
He was honored during a special ceremony on Nov. 17 at the Cherry Valley Lodge
in Newark, Ohio.
The Hall of Fame was established in 1987 to recognize and honor veterans in the
industry. Honorees come from all levels and segments of the oil and gas
industry. Those selected for induction are determined by their contributions to
the industry in Ohio.
Thompson started Danny W. Thompson Investment, a company that provides oil
field construction and other development work, in 1977. In 1979, along with
DWTI, Carlton Oil Corp. was started to drill and operate oil and gas wells in
Thompson still serves as president/owner of Carlton Oil Corp., which to date
has drilled and operates 154 wells, including six in 2006.
Thoughout his career, Thompson has been active in many industry organizations.
He has served many years on the Southeastern Ohio Oil and Gas Association board
of directors, including two terms as president, and as chairman of the
governmental affairs committee. He has been a member of the Ohio Oil and Gas
Association since 1979 and has served on its board of trustees from 1998 to
2000. He has also made trips to Washington,
D.C., on oil and gas issues,
including testifying twice before Congressional committees.
He and his wife, Janet, have three children and two grandsons.
