Newport, May 15.—The Women’s
Foreign Missionary Society of the M. E. Church met on Tuesday at, the home of
Mrs. W. S. McKitrick.
Mrs. J. L. Swingle was hostess
on Tuesday evening to the members of the Sunshine Class of the M. E. Church.
Assisting her in the entertainment and serving of refreshments were Mrs. W. W.
Warren and Mrs. Chloe McGee. A pleasant evening was enjoyed by members of this
Honoring Mr. and Mrs; S. F.
Alford who left on Wednesday for Tulsa,
Okla., a party of friends
gathered at the Alford home on Monday for a little surprise before their
departure for the West. Those making up the party were Mr. and Mrs. John Lauer,
Mr. and Mrs. F. B. McGrew, Dr. and Mrs. G. H. Gale, Mr. and Mrs. William Greenwood,
Mrs. Eva Reckard and daughter Grace, Mrs. Frank Hardy of Boston, Mrs. Alice
Fred. Miss Ethel Hays, Messrs. Con Gale, P.G. Gunnett and Francis Greene and
Allan Riddle. A fine pot luck supper was served in the evening.
Those from here who attended a
Baptist missionary convention at Granville last Wednesday and Thursday were
Miss Eleanor Adkins a nephew, Robert Adkins, Mrs. Hugh. Henry and H. B. Bevan.
Robert Gano spent Sunday at Pittsburgh.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Henry
spent Sunday here with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Henry.
Miss Mary Elizabeth Mendenhall
spent last week at Steubenville
with relatives. Her parents. -Mr. and Mrs. Howard Mendenhall spent Sunday there
and their daughter accompanied them home.
Mr. and Mrs. W. Carnieham, and
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Carnieham and two children of Racine spent Sunday here at the Greenwood home.
Mrs. James Maiden of Alliance has arrived and
will spend several weeks at the Greenwood
Mr. and Mrs. C. T Od!e and
little son Max Leland left Thursday for Winchester,
Ind.., where they will spend the
Mrs. P. L. Ring and daughter Lee
of Bellaire spent the week-end here at the McGrew home.
Mrs. John Mendenhall and two
sons Dean and Marvin are visiting with relatives at Greenfield,
Superintendent P. G. Gunnett
left last Thursday for his home at Plain
City where he will spend
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Prescher have
removed to Marietta
after pending the Winter here where Mr. Preseher was engaged in teaching.
Miss Doris Biddle of New
Matamoras spent Sunday here at the Delong home.
